Tuesday 27 May 2008 Supperclub Meeting Agenda:

Tuesday 22 April 2008 Supperclub Meeting Agenda:Report on Michael Moore's documentary concerning national healthcare and open discussion.
The meeting was attended by Joey Pantos, Bill Slaninko, Dan Fernandes, and Robert H. Biggadike. It was mentioned that a new link had been added to the Articles and Other Links page described as Bible Does Not Forbid Abortion, Bible Suggests the Unborn Are Not Endowed with Rights of Personhood . There was some discussion of the abortion topic. The points made in Michael Moore's "Sicko" documentary followed by the rebuttal of Chair Dan Fernandes are documented below. Moore says that 47 million Americans do not have health insurance. About 75% of the 47 million do not have the insurance by choice and others are covered by government programs leaving only 8 million. Moore says that Americans have low life expectancy and that America has high infant mortality. Lower life expectancy is caused by lifestyles and traffic accidents. America has better technology for saving and caring for premature babies. Other countries unlike Ameica do not count the deaths of premature babies. Moore says America is rated low on health care and devoid of compassion. But this low rating results from some inequality in medical care. The rating does not take into account that under American capitalism even the poor get better care than in other more socialistic countries. It is near absolute equality that the socialists consider essential. Moore says that profits are bad and preclude compassion. Profits do not preclude compassion. The profit motive turns self interest into good service and compassionate care.

Tuesday 25 March 2008 Supperclub Meeting Agenda: Suggested topic: Future Speaker
The meeting was attended by Robin and Bruce Graf, Bill Slaninko, Joey Pantos, Dan Fernandes, and Robert H. Biggadike. Joey Pantos brought his laptop computer and projector along with power cords. He projected on the screen the names of Libertarians running for office who might be willing to serve as speakers. It was pointed out that we get better attendance when we have speakers. Chair Dan Fernandes stated that one of our members and frequent attendee, Al Lax, had written a book called Consumers' Capitalism and the Immutable Laws of Economics . The book was sponsored by the Foundation for Economic Education and a review can be found at John Chamberlain's review of Al Lax's book. Dan said he would contact Al about making a presentationon on his book.

Joey then presented slide shows spoofing the global warming hysteria. One was from Minnesotans For Global Warming. It showed cold winter scenes with snow and had one slide showng palm trees sprouting around a lake. It was quite comical and fun to watch.

Just before adjourning, it was pointed out to Dan that Naturalization Ceremonies were scheduled at the Fairplex for 30 April 2008. Dan indicated we may want to wait before we greet our new citizens with libertarian literature.

Tuesday 26 February 2008 Supperclub Meeting Agenda:Suggested topic is Global Warming. For a good paper on global warming click on Environmental Effects of Increased Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide .
The meeting was attended by Joey Panto, Bill Slaninko, Al Lax, Dan Fernandes, Robert H. Biggadike, and Mars Ramage. Chair Dan Fernandes reported that he learned at the Los Angeles County (LPLAC) meeting of Monday, 25 February 2008 that Region 67 had $203 in its account. He mentioned the task of handing out libertarian literature to new citizens at the Naturalization Ceremonies held at L.A. County Fairgrounds - Fairplex, 1101 W. Mckinley Ave., Pomona, CA 91768.
The next naturalization ceremonies at the Fairplex are on 30 April 2008 at 9 AM and 1:30 PM.  Dan stated that purchasing literature for this outreach effort would take most of the $203. The issue, shall region 67 purchase and pass out libertarian literature at the Fairplex Naturalization Ceremonies, was put to a vote. It passed by voice vote with several in favor and none against.
Joey Panto mentioned opening a libertarian oriented website this week at JoeyPanto.com involving video, audio, and animation.
Mars Ramage stated that school employees were transporting students to abortion clinics and he expressed dissatisfaction over this. Mars also mentioned attrocities committed by members of the Burma military. The ensuing discussion indicated that some aspects of this behavior could be explained by the Milgram experiment.
Dan Fernandes reported that that Forbes had published his letter and brought in the current magazine which showed his letter. The letter provided a rebuttal to an article in Forbes on child labor.

The meeting was attended by Mathew Milton, Mars Ramage, Dan Fernandes, Robert H. Biggadike, and Bill Slaninko. There was a brief discussion of some of the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates. However, none were recommended. The so-called global warming problem was discussed. It was pointed out that many of the scientist who promote the global warming disaster scenario were people doing so in order to get more government funding. Also that many of the people promoting this issue have a dislike for capitalism and freedom. This is in agreement with what Christopher C. Horner of the Competetive Enterprise Institute says in the book, "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism". It was pointed out in the CBS television show on global warming of Sunday, 20 January 2008, the debate is over viewpoint was promoted yet contradicted by acknowledging that there are skeptics. However, no skeptics were on the show to contradict the views of the environmentalist.
